The tale of two churches becoming better together in Raleigh, NC
Southbridge Fellowship has been a growing church in search of a permanent facility for eleven years. Covenant Church has been a declining church for ten years and was considering selling the current location to relocate to a smaller and less expensive facility. When Southbridge inquired about the possibility of purchasing the Covenant Church campus on 10.7 acres, the Covenant Board responded with a bold idea—joining together!
Two months later 93% of the joining church membership affirmed the merger to became better together as one.
“When another local church in town ask if they could join with our church, our leadership was very excited. However, we didn’t even know what we didn’t know. We reached out to MultiSite Solutions. . . I can’t emphasize enough how much help Jim was walking us through the merger process. He helped us navigate through issues that never became issues. He helped us avoid landmines we did not know existed.”
Lead Pastor, Southbridge Fellowship
“We had read Jim’s book, Better Together, prior to deciding we would pursue a merger with Southbridge Fellowship. Once both boards decided to explore the possibility, we knew we would need a guide. Jim Tomberlin seemed like the logical choice. What a blessing he was in guiding us through the process. I know the process would have taken us much longer and we would have encountered many struggles along the way had it not been for Jim’s wise counsel.”
