The multisite movement is at least 10 years old.
I have been full-time consulting churches for the past six years in developing and implementing multisite strategies. Three books have been written validating the multisite church experience. Leadership Network has surveyed multisite churches three times this decade.
Here’s what we know.
There are over 3,000 multisite campuses or venues in North America. There is no “one-size-fits-all” or formula that all follow. Each one has a unique church-print, but all churches that go multisite will face the same basic questions and address common issues.
For the last two years I have been offering a daily multisite tip to my Twitter followers that address these common issues and offer proven tips to implementing a successful multisite strategy. I have now organized these tips into an eBook.
125 Tips for MultiSite Churches is a compilation of those tips and a distillation of what I have learned in the past fifteen years of my multisite experience as a pioneer practitioner and church consultant. It also contains snapshot summaries of ten succeeding multisite churches of various sizes, styles and locations.
Here is what I wrote in the introduction:
This eBook is about helping guide leaders through the decision-making and implementation process of going MultiSite. My intent is that these tips will become guideposts to help you navigate these new waters. And for those of you who have been doing MultiSite for some time now, it will serve as a refresher about the most important details as you continue to multiply the number of additional campuses your church starts, supports, and sustains.
While going MultiSite can certainly be a practical, pragmatic decision, it is also one that allows us to expand our reach and multiply our ministry impact in one of the most reasonable and cost-effective ways available to church leaders today. There is nothing more exciting than to be a part of a growing, healthy church. There will be surprises along the way, but the good news is that many have already been there and are finding their MultiSite strategy to be a critical element to their Kingdom expansion strategy.
May God extend your borders, multiply your impact, and enlarge your harvest. If we can help, let us know.
Be fruitful and multiply,
Jim Tomberlin

Thank you, Jim. This is a great resource! Having visited and spoken with over a dozen multi-site churches as a part of my D.Min. study and project on multi-sites, I found that churches need practical resources like this one.
Eugenia,
Glad you found “125 Tips for MultiSite Churches” useful and beneficial to multisite churches.
I look forward to sharing the results of your D.Min study with those who want to learn more about multisite.

I appreciate your heart and thank you for sharing you knowledge. I am african american pastor in San Bernardino california leading growing cross-cultural church, planning to launch our first site in the fall of this year. I haven’t found many african american models of multi-site as you are describing and as I have read lately, so I could use a good mentor. Also how do it get the rest of your ebook to read?
Joshua,
You are right that the African American church has been slow to embrace the multisite model, but it is beginning to happen.
Here are a few that I am aware of:
The Potters House—Dallas, TX
Church Without Walls—Houston, TX
Eastern Star Church—Indianapolis, IN
Greater Salem Baptist Church—Charlotte, NC
Bethel World Outreach Church—Silver Spring, MD
I recommend calling these churches, learn about their strategy and ask who else is doing multisite in the African American church community.

Hope this helps,

Sorry I missed you recently at the MultiSite Overview at Mission Church,
No doubt that Mission Church is pregnant with multisites!
Looking forward to working with you and Mission Church in the future.
